Atmospheric Water Harvester

MDS is currently developing a prototype Atmospheric Water Harvester, under directive from ONR. The device will produce water from humid air for emergency supplies of water but also have many other potential applications. The unit is designed to be used by small groups of people for potable drinking water supplies during emergencies, or other times of short supply of clean potable water.

The MDS atmospheric water harvester will be small, lightweight, and be able to be rapidly deployed. It will have the capability to use energy from multiple power sources, including photovoltaics, to condense potable water at the point of use. The unit will be tested at Aberdeen Test Center in early 2007. Optimization will be done with respect to size (volume), weight, and performance (water production). MDS is seeking a partner to help manufacture this unit once the design is complete.
