ENVIRONMENTAL EVALUATION

The environmental impact of MDS’s combined desalination and CO2 sequestration process is being evaluated in comparisons to other proposed sequestration techniques. MDS is carrying out active research on the environmental impacts of its CO2 desalination technology, and is in the process of presenting this work to the larger scientific, technical and political community involved with Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS):

MDS will make an oral presentation to the 9th International Conference on Greenhouse Gas Technologies, the principal international conference on greenhouse mitigation technologies, and an international focal point for research on CCS. We’ll be presenting progress on the development of our CO2 desalination work, and its implications for greenhouse gas reduction.

MDS Staff Scientist Kathryn Sheps presented on this same subject at 6th International Conference on Gas Hydrates, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, July 6-10, 2008. A copy of our paper from the scientific proceedings of the 6th ICGH conference is available here.

MDS attended the 7th Annual Conference on Carbon Capture and Sequestration, May 5-8, 2008 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

MDS Staff Scientist Kathryn Sheps made an oral presentation on behalf of MDS at the CHEMRAWN-XVII and ICCDU-IX Conference on Greenhouse Gases Mitigation and Utilization, July 8-12, 2007. Her presentation materials can be viewed here . Kathryn also participated in the conference summary session.
